Why is I2C called TWI in Nordic's Documentation

Postby Philip » Sun Jan 24, 2016 9:50 am

I've noticed that Nordic's documentation refers to I2C as TWI. Why?

In the past I think companies had to pay a license fee to Philips (now NXP) for the right to use their patented technology. The use of TWI might have been a cautious move to avoid paying those fees. Wikipedia does not explain why either.

From wikipedia:

TWI (Two Wire Interface) or TWSI (Two-Wire Serial Interface) is essentially the same bus implemented on various system-on-chip processors from Atmel and other vendors. Vendors use the name TWI, even though I2C is not a registered trademark. Trademark protection only exists for the respective logo (See upper right corner) and patents on I2C have now lapsed.

Hi everyone, i am new here and want to learn about the Nordiac products.
I want to know particularly about its NRF24L01.
What are its specifications and what connection it establishes with the main MCU board?

Hi TabbMulroy,

Welcome to the forum. This forum is specifically for users of OSHChip, and not for general Nordic Semiconductor questions.
There is a very active forum that Nordic runs, and is much better for your question:
https://devzone.nordicsemi.com

As for your question, it would be best if you downloaded and read the data sheet from the Nordic site:
https://www.nordicsemi.com/eng/Products ... F/nRF24L01

Return to “I2C”
